| Dice-K? More like Dice-10K, as Daisuke Matsuzaka dazzles while striking out 10 Blue Jay hitters over 7 innings. Actually, 10 is sort of a disappointment after Daisuke struck out 6 batters through 2 innings, AKA all of them. The Sox offense all came off the long ball from a couple unlikely sources: Coco Crisp with a 1st inning solo shot, and Dustin Pedroia with a grand slam in the 6th. Jonathan Papelbon struck out the side in the 9th for his 8th save. |

Center fielder Coco Crisp hit a homerun and Daisuke Matsuzaka reeled off a
total of 10 strikeouts at Rogers Centre as the Boston Red Sox beat the
Toronto Blue Jays by the count of 5 to 2.
Matsuzaka(2-0) looked very much in control throughout the night. He
surrendered only 3 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings improving his ERA from 4.50
to 2.84. Overall Boston out-hit Toronto 9 to 3.
Jonathan Papelbon recorded the save, his 8th. Gustavo Chacin(1-2) was tagged
with the loss. Matsuzaka was humble when questioned about his performance,
'Well, I felt pretty confident in my pitches tonight. But, I had great
support behind me and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely
well called game!'
