| The Nationals extend their winning streak to 7 games by beating their division rivals from Atlanta by a score of 6 to 3. The Nationals took a 2 run lead in the 2nd on 3 straight singles (including one by pitcher Matt Chico) and held on to the lead thanks to 7 shutout innings from Chico. The Nats would add 4 more in the 8th when they loaded the bases on walks, then got a double from Ron Belliard which was mis-handled by Braves left fielder Matt Diaz, resulting in all 4 runners crossing the plate. The Braves would rally in the 9th with 3 runs, but Chad Cordero came in with 2 out to squelch the rally and earn his 4th save. |
