Designated hitter David Ortiz ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Boston
Red Sox outscored the Texas Rangers 3 to 0.

Ortiz was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 1st
inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 2nd of the season) in the 6th
inning. Boston had 7 hits for the afternoon while Texas had 4.

Tim Wakefield(1-0) went 7 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Wakefield
was helped out by Jonathan Papelbon who recorded his 3rd save. Robinson
Tejeda(0-1) was given the loss. He surrendered 3 hits and 2 walks in 4 and
1/3 innings.
