| The Nationals pull off a remarkable win in the 14th inning when Chris Snelling goes deep with one out and a runner on. What makes it so remarkable? Snelling hit just one homer in 69 AB in the real 2007 season, and yet this was his 2nd homer of the game in this one! He was part of a back-to-back display with Felipe Lopez in the 3rd inning. Nationals starter Jerome Williams was mediocre at best in his 5 innings of work, but the 5-5 score that he left held through 9 innings of scoreless relief from both teams until Snelling finally sent the home fans home happy. |

Chris Snelling cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at RFK STADIUM where the
Washington Nationals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in 14 innings by the score
of 7 to 5.
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Washington came out the victor
in the 14th inning. Jesus Flores opened up the inning nicely when he lined a
one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Snelling came up and he cracked a
two-run shot (his 2nd of the season) making Washington the victors to the
delight of the home town faithful. Washington had 13 hits for the night
while Arizona had 10.
Ryan Wagner(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. The losing
pitcher was Brandon Medders(0-1) in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no walks
in 1/3 of an inning.
