| The first playoff game in Milwaukee in 25 years does not quite go how the home crowd would have hoped, as the Rockies slam the Brew Crew with a 23 hit, 17 run attack. They got started early off Brewers starter Jeff Suppan, scoring 5 runs in the 1st. Despite getting back to back home runs from Garrett Atkins and Brad Hawpe followed by back to back doubles from Yorvit Torreable and Chris Sullivan, all 5 runs in the first are unearned thanks to an error by Brewers third baseman Ryan Braun that should have been the third out but instead allowed Todd Helton to reach base right before Atkins' homer. Atkins went 3 for 5 in the game with a double, a homer and 5 RBI. Brad Hawpe was 3 for 6 with 2 homers and 3 RBI, while NL MVP Matt Holliday was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI. Matt Wise of the Brewers was not as lucky as Jeff Suppan when it comes to unearned runs...he allows 9 runs, all earned, in 1 1/3 innings of work. Carlos Villanueva will try to pull the Brewers even in the series in game 4. He will be opposed by Josh Fogg of the Rockies. |
