| Josh Beckett rights the ship for the Sox, evening the ALCS at one game a piece by going 8 innings and allowing just 4 hits and 1 run while striking out 6. The Sox got on the board first in this one, scoring a run in the first when David Ortiz doubled with 2 outs and scored on Manny Ramirez' single. Manny was out going for 3rd on the play. The Yankees evened it up in the 6th on a Derek Jeter home run, but the Sox got the lead right back in the bottom of the inning when Dustin Pedroia led off with a single and then Big Papi cleared the bases by clearing the fence in right. The Sox took a 3-1 lead, and that score would hold until the end. The Yankees got a leadoff double from Derek Jeter in the 9th off Jonathan Papelbon, but he would end up stranded at 3rd. Tim Wakefield will face off against the Texas Con Man in Yankee Stadium for game 3. |

Josh Beckett had a strong outing and David Ortiz lofted one into the 'cheap
seats' and had 2 RBI at Fenway Park where the Boston Red Sox beat the New
York (AL) Yankees 3 to 1.
Beckett(3-0) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't allow much,
just 4 hits and no walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA to 1.57. Boston had 8
hits for the night while New York (AL) had 5.
Beckett got relief help from Jonathan Papelbon who gained credit for his 4th
save. Andy Pettitte(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 8 hits and
