| Despite getting outhit, the Rockies delight the home crowd with a comeback win in their first ever NLCS game. The lead went back and forth 3 times in this one, with the Cubs taking an early 1-0 lead in the first which the Rockies took from them with 2 runs in the 4th. The Cubs took a 3-2 lead with 2 runs of their own in the 6th, including a go-ahead run on a Ryan Theriot squeeze bunt. The Rockies lumber then took over, with 2 in the 7th on a Ryan Spilborghs home run and 3 more in the 8th off the bat of NLDS MVP Matt Holliday. The Cubs tried to rally in the 9th, pulling within 2 runs but still falling 2 runs short. Both starters lasted just 5 innings in this game, so neither earned a decision. Matt Herges got the win for Colorado thanks to 3 scoreless innings of relief. Carlos Zambrano will take the hill for the Cubs in game 2, he will be opposed by Ubaldo Jimenez. |

Matt Holliday hit a homerun and had 4 RBI at Coors Field where the Colorado
Rockies beat the Chicago (NL) Cubs 7 to 5.
Holliday enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He singled knocking in a run in
the 4th inning, laced a one-base hit in the 6th inning and clubbed a
three-run home run (his 4th of the season) in the 8th inning. Chicago (NL)
made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs
across.
Matt Herges(1-0) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Scott Eyre(0-1)
took the loss in relief. He allowed 2 runs and 2 hits in 2 innings.
