| It took a while for the Red Sox to figure out Jon Leicester in this one, but once they did in the 6th inning they struck for 5 runs and went on to the 6-4 victory. In reality, it was Leicester's defense behind him that failed him; the first 4 batters in the 6th all reached on X chances off the fielder. First there was Mike Lowell's double to centerfield, then Kevin Youkilis reached on an error by the third baseman, then another double to center from JD Drew, then another 3B error let Jason Varitek reach base. Daisuke Matsuzaka gets his 14th win, while Hideki Okajima gets his 5th save. |

WEB GEMS- Bot 4th: Dustin Pedroia robbed Tike Redman of a base hit.
In a good matchup it was the Boston Red Sox 6, the Baltimore Orioles 4 at
Camden Yards.
Boston scored 5 runs in the top of the 6th inning when they had 4 base hits.
The crucial at-bat was provided by Julio Lugo who quieted the crowd when he
tripled bringing in two baserunners. Boston had 9 hits for the night.
Daisuke Matsuzaka(14-8) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Hideki
Okajima earned his 5th save. Jon Leicester(0-1) was the losing pitcher.
This win by Boston continues their recent hot streak. In their last ten
games, they have a record of 8-2. For the season, they are a division
leading 108-35. Still in a bad slump, with this loss, Baltimore is 2-8
lately and 70-71 on the year.
