This one was quite different than yesterday's 1-0 A's win, as the Red Sox slug their way to an 11-7 win. The Sox scored 8 runs over the first three innings and looked to be on cruise control, but the A's stormed back with 6 runs in the middle innings to pull within a run. The Sox make it a 2 run lead in the bottom of the 6th when Mike Lowell hits a solo shot, then get 2 more insurance runs in the 8th. The 4 run lead seems safe enough to give Eric Gagne a shot at the 9th, and he allows just one hit while getting the three outs.

Jon Lester had the lead in the 5th, but left the game after Mark Ellis' home run due to fatigue and did not complete 5 innings. Therefore, Kyle Snyder gets the win thanks to his 2 hitless innings of relief.

Kevin Youkilis went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI and his 20th home run of the season in his first start back from an injury layofff.

The Red Sox finish their season with 4 games against the Twins, who are in the thick of a race for the AL Central lead. The Twins won today while Cleveland split a double header, giving the Twins a one run lead. The Yankees also won and clinched at least a tie for the wild card.
