Chad Gaudin(14-14)with bullpen support blanked the Boston Red Sox at Fenway
Park. The Oakland Athletics scored managed just one run for the
victory.
The game was won by Oakland with a run in the 8th inning. Mark Ellis smacked
a single. Dan Johnson followed and he drew a walk. One out later, Jack
Hannahan stepped in and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run. Boston
threatened in the 9th but Oakland was able to put down the rally.
Alan Embree recorded his 18th save. Mike Timlin(7-1) was the losing pitcher
in relief. He allowed 1 run and 1 hit in 1 inning.
'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Gaudin, 'I got burned on
a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
