| David Ortiz cracks 2 home runs for the 2nd straight day and the Sox score a 5-2 win over the Blue Jays. Jon Lester gets the win, while Manny Delcarmen gets his first major league save. Unless the Sox lose nine of their remaining 10 games, they are going to break the record for wins in a season (116) held by the 1906 Chicago Cubs and the 2001 Seattle Mariners. The Cubs claim to have the real record because they did it in a 154 game season. The Red Sox have duplicated my replay record, 115 wins by the 2002 Red Sox, the only Sox team to win my SOM World Series. The 2001 Mariners won 106 games in my replay, but lost in the first round of the playoffs. |

David Ortiz rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated
the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 5 to 2 at Rogers Centre.
The Toronto fans didn't appreciate the big day Ortiz had. He blasted a
two-run home run in the 1st inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his
38th of the season) in the 8th inning. Boston rapped out 9 hits for the
night.
The victory was credited to Jon Lester(6-1) who went 6 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Lester got help from Manny Delcarmen who was credited with
his 1st save. A.J. Burnett(6-9) absorbed the loss.
