Another day, another extra inning win for the Sox. This time, it's Big Papi who breaks the tie with a 3 run homer in the 12th inning. That gives him 36 for the year and 2 in the game, following a solo shot in the 1st.

With a 3 run lead, I figure maybe I'll give Eric Gagne a shot to close it out in the 12th. As with any time in which I call Gagne's name, it turns out to be a mistake. Papelbon needed just one pitch to get a popup to short to end the game with the tying run on 1st.

Designated hitter David Ortiz rocketed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Boston
Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays in 12 innings by a score of 6 to 4.

The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Boston ended up winning it in
the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Kevin Cash started the attack as
he laced a one-base hit. Jacoby Ellsbury stepped up next and he laced a
base-hit. Dustin Pedroia was the next batter, but he struck out. Ortiz was
up next and he rifled a three-run blast (his 36th of the season). Overall
Boston out-hit Toronto 10 to 7.

Kyle Snyder(2-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Jonathan Papelbon
recorded the save, his 44th. Josh Banks(0-1) suffered the loss in relief.
