| What started out as a battle between 2 crafty veteran starters turns into a battle between dominant bullpens, with the Red Sox coming out victorious. The Texas Con Man was once again ineffective against the Red Sox, allowing 4 runs in the first 2 innings with 3 of them coming on a Jacoby Ellsbury home run. The Yankees would get their revenge in the 5th, getting 4 hits and a walk with 2 outs that lead to 4 runs. The 4-4 tie would hold up until the 10th. In the 10th, Hideki Okajima would strike out the first 2 batters faced in his 2nd inning of work. Robby Cano would single, followed by a Melky Cabrera double. Cano tries to score from 1st on a 1-15 chance, and I roll a 15. Fortunately Jason Varitek is "great" at blocking the plate, and Cano is out! In the Sox half of the inning, David Ortiz would lead off with a walk. I pinch run for him with Royce Clayton, and Mike Lowell singles to send Clayton to third. JD Drew grounds out and Jason Varitek strikes out, leaving it up to Eric Hinske to bring the runner in from third. Hinske singles, game over! |
