It looked like undefeated Nats starter Shawn Hill was going to take his first loss of the season, especially after coughing up 5 runs in the 5th inning to give the Braves a 5-0 lead. Instead, the slugging Nats would strike back with a big inning of their own, scoring 9 in the bottom of the 6th to take a 10-5 lead. Here's how it went:
[1]*** BOTTOM OF INNING 6 ***
0 F.Lopez 2- 7 4 Fly Out b-0
1 R.Zimmerman 3-10 6 Double b-2
1 2 A.Kearns 4- 8 11 3 Single 2-H b-1
1 1 R.Church 2-10 3 Double 1-3 b-2
1 23 W.Pena 3- 7 13 5 Single 3-H 2-3 b-1
1 1 3 R.Fick 2-12 4 Walk 1-2 b-1
SUBSTITUTE PH- Ryan Langerhans
1 123 R.Langerhan 2- 5 4 Walk 3-H 2-3 1-2 b-1
SUBSTITUTE PH- Brian Schneider
1 123 B.Schneider 4- 8 6 Single 3-H 2-3 1-2 b-1
1 123 D.Jimenez 1- 4 4 Walk 3-H 2-3 1-2 b-1
SUBSTITUTE P - Ron Mahay
1 123 F.Lopez 5- 5 4 Walk 3-H 2-3 1-2 b-1
1 123 R.Zimmerman 5- 6 4 Walk 3-H 2-3 1-2 b-1
1 123 A.Kearns 1- 6 20 4 Double 3-H 2-H 1-3 b-2
1 23 R.Church 3- 7 5 Fly Out b-0
2 23 W.Pena 1- 8 3 Strike Out b-0

As you can see, walks were a big problem, with 5 in the inning. 4 of those were with the bases loaded!

This is the 3rd time in the last 4 games that the Nats have scored double digit runs, and not coincidentally their 3rd win in the last 4 games. The Mets loss to the Phillies puts the Nats lead at 6 1/2 and the magic number at 8.

doubled scoring two baserunners. Overall Washington out-hit Atlanta 12 to 7.

Saul Rivera(8-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Tim Hudson(18-7)
took the loss. He was knocked around by Washington, allowing 8 hits and 3
