| The Red Sox put a shellacking on the Yankees, beating them by a score of 15-1. It could have been even worse; 3 different Red Sox scoring innings ended with a runner thrown out at the plate. 7 different Sox hitters have multi-hit games, and Josh Beckett cruises to his 23rd win and gets his 200th K of the season in the process. |

WEB GEMS- Bot 4th: Jorge Posada blocked the plate, saving a run!
In a one-sided affair the Boston Red Sox batters pounded the New York (AL)
Yankees pitchers for 15 runs while Josh Beckett(23-1), with relief help from
Manny Delcarmen, held New York (AL) to 1 run.
Boston claimed the early lead in the first inning as they scored 2 runs on 2
base hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Boston provided
plenty of action in the 6th inning with 6 runs on 6 hits. Boston out-hit New
York (AL) for the game, 18 hits to 7.
Chien-Ming Wang(18-6) was the losing pitcher. He was hit hard and gave up 11
hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
