In a dramatic ending at Fenway Park the Boston Red Sox won in their last
at-bat beating the Tampa Bay Devil Rays by the count of 6 to 5.
Boston scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Coco Crisp
reached on an error. Dustin Pedroia next to the plate and he was hit by a
pitch. Mike Lowell then lined a one-base hit resulting in a mighty exciting
win for Boston and the 37,089 home town fans in attendance. Boston had a
total of 12 hits for the game.
Hideki Okajima(4-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Gary Glover(5-9)
suffered the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an
earned run in his 1 and 2/3 innings of work.
