| The Nationals send 13 men to the plate in the 5th inning, scoring 9 runs in the process and putting the game away. It was a good day for part time players - Robert Fick went 4 for 5 in a rare start at 1st, while backup catcher Jesus Flores went 2 for 4 and had a 3 run homer in that big 5th inning. |

Jesus Flores went yard and had 3 RBI at Dodger Stadium where the Washington
Nationals beat the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by the score of 9 to 2.
Los Angeles(NL) lost it in the 5th inning when Washington did all their damage
when they blasted Los Angeles(NL) for 9 runs on 8 hits. The key offensive
moment was provided by Flores who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd
when he lofted a three-run bomb (his 3rd of the season). Washington ended up
with 16 hits for the game while Los Angeles(NL) had 8.
Shawn Hill(6-0) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Brad Penny(11-9)
suffered the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs in 4 and
1/3 innings.
