The Nationals win their 6th straight game in the series opener against Derek Lowe and the Dodgers. It was a scoreless game for the first 5 innings, but the Nats manufactured a run in the 6th when Nook Logan singled and stole 2nd, then scored on Ryan Zimmerman's single. In the top of the 7th, the Nats made 2 quick outs but then scored 4 runs before the 3rd out was recorded. The Dodgers would get the 4 runs back with 2 runs each in the 7th and 8th, but the Nats would get an insurance run in the 9th on a Ryan Zimmerman home run and Chad Cordero would come in for the save.

Mike Bacsik pitched 6 strong innings at Dodger Stadium as the Washington
Nationals beat the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by the count of 6 to 4.

Ryan Zimmerman provided much of the offense. He banged out a single resulting
in a run in the 6th inning, doubled which was good for two runs in the 7th
inning and hit a bases-empty home run (his 19th of the season) in the 9th
inning. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

Bacsik(5-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing no
runs. Chad Cordero recorded the save, his 30th. Derek Lowe(11-11) was hit
with the loss.
