| Josh Beckett and Erik Bedard lock horns in a pitchers duel, as both teams combine for just 8 hits but Beckett and the Red Sox come away with the 2-1 win. Beckett did not allow a hit until the 5th, when Miguel Tejada led off with a single. He would not allow another hit until the 9th. In the meantime, the Red Sox finally got on the board in the 7th when Mike Lowell walked with one out and Kevin Youkilis followed up by planting a ball in the Monster seats. The Orioles would get a one out double in the 9th from Brian Roberts, then after the 2nd out was recorded Nick Markakis and Kevin Millar would get back-to-back singles. With a run in and runners on 1st and 2nd, Jonathan Papelbon is called from the 'pen to face Tejada. Tejada would ground out, preserving Beckett's 17th win and earning Paps his 32nd save. |
