The Nats come up one run short against the Phillies for the 2nd straight day. The Nats were down 3-1 early, but led off with an Austin Kearns double in the 6th. That was it for Adam Eaton, but Tom Gordon was rudely greeted by a game-tying Ryan Church home run. Unfortunately, the Phils would get one right back in the bottom of the inning when Ryan Howard went deep, and that would be the end of the scoring for the day.

The Nationals are still in 2nd place, 3 games back of the Mets. They are headed into Shea Stadium for a 4 game showdown. The Phillies are in 3rd, 6 games back.

Third baseman Greg Dobbs went deep at Citizen's Bank Park as the Philadelphia
Phillies beat the Washington Nationals 4 to 3.

Philadelphia jumped on top to stay in the 6th inning scoring one runner.
Washington threatened in the 9th but Philadelphia was able to put down the
rally.

Tom Gordon(1-1) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the win. J.C. Romero
got the save, his 3rd. Chris Schroder(1-2) took the loss in relief.

'We didn't get the key hits when we needed them' Manny Acta said. 'We did what
we could, we just didn't pull out the win. What can you say?'
