Designated hitter Travis Hafner had 2 base hits and Fausto Carmona pitched 8
and one third strong innings as the Cleveland Indians defeated the Boston Red
Sox 3 to 0 at Jacobs Field.
Cleveland had 2 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 4th inning with the
help of 3 hits. The big moment was provided by Ryan Garko who made the crowd
come alive when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 14th of the
season). Cleveland had 6 hits for the game and Boston had 2.
Carmona(10-6) got the win allowing no runs in 8 and 1/3 innings. Joe Borowski
recorded his 20th save. Josh Beckett(16-1) absorbed the loss. He pitched 7
innings giving up 6 hits and no walks.
