The 3 runs would be all the Tigers needed, as Nate Robertson held the Sox to just 1 run and Zach Miner and Todd Jones both came out of the bullpen to put down Sox rallies. |

In a close game it was the Detroit Tigers 3, the Boston Red Sox 1 at Comerica
Park.
Detroit erupted with the game winning runs in the 8th inning with 2 runs on 2
hits. Omar Infante got things going when he ripped a base-knock. Brandon
Inge followed and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Curtis Granderson then
smashed a two-run homer (his 10th of the season). Detroit won despite being
out-hit by Boston 6 hits to 3.
The win went to Zach Miner(1-2) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Miner
got help from Todd Jones who earned his 15th save. Daisuke Matsuzaka(9-5)
was the loser. He pitched 8 innings and surrendered just 3 hits and 2
walks.
