| The 2007 All Star Game is in the books, and it was the American League coming out victorious for the 3rd straight year. Neither starter looked sharp, as the AL set the tone of the game with 4 runs off Ben Sheets and the NL came right back with 3 off Josh Beckett. Beckett gave up 4 straight hits to start the game. The AL would add 2 more runs to make it a 3 run lead in the 6th off Chris Young, scoring on an A-Rod homer and a Carlos Pena sac fly. The NL would pull within 1 run after single runs in the 6th and 7th, but the AL gets one back in the 8th on a Vlad Guerrero double following a Mike Lowell single, then reclaims a 3 run lead in the 9th with a Mark Ellis solo homer. Jonathan Papelbon pitches the 9th and does what he's done 25 times this season, gets the save. Sheets gets the loss, while Erik Bedard is awarded the win. Bedard entered with 2 on in the 4th, and got out of the inning with just 6 pitches after a GIDP and a strikeout. AJ Pierzynski, Joe Blanton, Aramis Ramirez, Tim Hudson, Takashi Saito and Brandon Webb all failed to see action in the game. |

Third baseman Alex Rodriguez slammed a homerun as the American League ballclub
beat the National League club by a score of 8 to 5.
American League took the lead off Ben Sheets in the first inning when they
tallied 4 runs on 3 hits. The highlight belonged to Torii Hunter who
silenced AT&T Park as he lined a single scoring two baserunners. American
