| Josh Beckett gets his 13th win in an absolute gem of a game. He goes the distance, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 10. The Sox get their first run of the game in the 5th on a sac fly from Jacoby Ellsbury, who is making his major league debut. The 2nd run was added when Manny went deep an inning later. |

Josh Beckett allowed 3 hits while blanking Texas as the Boston Red Sox
defeated the Texas Rangers by the score of 2 to 0 at Fenway
Park.
Beckett(13-0) was simply too much for the Texas batters. He was stingy on the
mound, allowing just 3 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Beckett mowed down 10
Texas batters. Boston had only 5 hits for the game.
Robinson Tejeda(3-5) suffered the loss. Ron Washington was upset after the
game. 'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?',
he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's
printed in the rule book.'
