| A loss in this one would have sent the Nationals to the cellar in the NL East, but instead they pull out the win to pull back to .500 on the season. Micah Bowie allowed just one run through 6, but the Nats offense managed just one run over the same interval. They finally strike for 3 runs in the top of the 8th, with the big hit coming from Ryan Zimmerman's bat on a 3 run dinger. The Braves got 2 back in the bottom of the 8th off Luis Ayala, but Ray King gets the third out of the inning with runners on 1st and 2nd and then Chad Cordero gets the rare 1-2-3 9th for his 14th save. |

49,373 fans were treated to a fine game at Turner Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Washington Nationals won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
Washington had the game winning rally in the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on 5
hits. Jesus Flores led off and he delivered a base-hit. Nook Logan was next
and he delivered a one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Ryan Zimmerman
stepped up to the plate and he smacked a three-run homer (his 12th of the
season). Atlanta was set down quietly in the bottom of the 9th.
The victory went to Jon Rauch(3-0) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no
runs. Chad Cordero recorded the save, his 14th. The loss was charged to Wil
Ledezma(1-3) in relief.
