The Nationals salvage the final game of their series with the Tigers with an exciting comeback win. The Tigers took an early lead with 3 runs in the first, but the Nats crawled back with single runs in the 1st, 4th and 5th. Starter Mike Bacsik settled down and held the Tigers scoreless until the 6th, when Carlos Guillen hit a 2 run shot. The 2 run lead would hold until the 9th, when the Nats rallied off a tired Jeremy Bonderman with a Brian Schneider walk and a Ronnie Bellilard single with one out. Nook Logan pinch ran for Schneider, and the Tigers went to Fernando Rodney out of the bullpen. Rodney walked Ryan Langerhans and then gave way to Bobby Seay. With the bases loaded, Felipe Lopez tried the suicide squeeze and nailed it, making it a one run game with the tying run on 3rd. Cristian Guzman was intentionally walked to load the bases, and Ryan Zimmerman made them regret it when he cracked a double to left center, scoring Belliard with the tying run and Langerhans with the game winner!

It was a great finish at RFK STADIUM as the Washington Nationals pulled off a
dramatic comeback beating the Detroit Tigers by the count of 6 to
5.

Washington came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 3
runs utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Brian Schneider
started the rally when he drew a walk. Ronnie Belliard was next and he hit a
single. Ryan Langerhans then drew a walk to load the bases. Felipe Lopez
followed and he worked the squeeze play to perfection resulting in a run.
Cristian Guzman stepped into the box and was walked intentionally to load the
bases. Ryan Zimmerman continued the rally and doubled resulting in a mighty
exciting win for Washington and the 32,476 home town fans in attendance.
Overall Washington out-hit Detroit 11 to 7.

The win went to Saul Rivera(4-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Fernando
Rodney(1-2) ended up with the loss in relief. 'What a game!,' Rivera said
afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't believe it!'
