Jason Varitek slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox topped the
Texas Rangers by a score of 9 to 3 at Fenway Park.
Boston tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning with the help of 3 hits.
Dustin Pedroia led off and he drew a walk. Kevin Youkilis came next and he
was hit by a pitch. After an out was recorded, Manny Ramirez stepped in and
he laced a one-base hit which scored a run. J.D. Drew was up next and he
banged out a single scoring another run. Eric Hinske dug into the batters
box next, but he struck out. Varitek continued the rally and slapped a
base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. That early scoring was all
that Julian Tavarez(10-3) needed. Boston had 10 hits for the afternoon.
Kameron Loe(9-6) took the loss. He gave up 6 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings of
work.
