| This time, it's the A's bats that fall mostly silent as the Red Sox take the 6-0 victory. It wasn't an easy win though, since it was scoreless until the 7th when Wily Mo Pena doubled in a run. Then the Sox tore it open in the 9th with 5 runs when they sent 11 batters to the plate. The wildness of the A's pitchers was apparent in the 9th, with 3 walks and 2 wild pitches. Daisuke Matsuzaka goes the distance on an efficient 121 pitches for the first complete game and 1st shutout of his major league career. |

strong outing at McAfee Coliseum where the Boston Red Sox beat the Oakland

Oakland never recovered after Boston took the lead in the 7th inning plating
