| The Red Sox put an absolute shellacking on the Giants in game 2 of their interleague series. While the bats were putting up double digits in hits and runs scored, Daisuke Matsuzaka took a no-hitter into the 7th, when Bengie Molina singled with one out. That was followed by another single, but Dice-K would bear down and not allow another hit for the rest of the game, his 2nd shutout of the season. Kevin Youkilis was 2 for 5 with a homer and 4 RBI, Alex Cora was 3 for 4 with a triple, and even Big Papi had a triple! |

Daisuke Matsuzaka carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning and Kevin Youkilis
slammed a homerun and had 4 RBI as the Boston Red Sox crushed the San
Francisco Giants 10 to 0.
The Boston fans enjoyed the offense provided by Youkilis. He belted a
three-run homer (his 10th of the season) in the 3rd inning and stroked a
one-base hit knocking in a run in the 7th inning. Boston dominated
offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Matsuzaka(8-3). The right-handed
Matsuzaka had his no-hit bid broken up by Bengie Molina who singled with one
out in the 7th inning. Matt Cain(4-8) was the loser. He was hit hard and
gave up 10 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Boston continued their winnings ways improving their record to a division
leading 50-17. They are 9-1 in their last ten games. With the loss, the San
Francisco ballclub's record is 26-41, worst in the division.
