| Even though they are now in their third season in Washington, the Nats still play a series every year against their former countrymen Blue Jays during interleague play. Roy Halladay dominated the Nats for the first 8 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 1 run on a Ryan Zimmerman homer. The Blue Jays bullpen needed just 3 outs to take away a 3-1 win, but instead they allow 12 men to come to the plate and allow the Nats to score 6 runs on 7 hits. The Nats spread the offense around, as 8 batters got a hit and all 7 runs were scored by a different man. 6 different men had 1 RBI, the missing RBI was because a run scored on an error by Jays shortstop John McDonald. |

In a dramatic ending the Washington Nationals staged a comeback and held on to
win over the Toronto Blue Jays by the count of 7 to 3.
Washington scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning scoring 6
runners on 7 hits. Washington finished with 10 hits in the victory.
The victory was credited to Chad Cordero(1-2) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. The losing pitcher was Jeremy Accardo(4-3) in relief.
After the game, it took a long while before John Gibbons emerged from his
office. In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood tonight, as
I think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a lot more
light-hearted over in the Washington locker room.'
