| Despite just 5 hits in the game, the Nationals come away with a 2-1 victory to salvage the final game of a 3 game series in Minnesota. Juan Rincon was the goat in this game for the Twins, entering the game with the bases loaded in the 6th and walking pinch hitter Nook Logan to tie the game. Then in the 7th, Rincon grooved one to Ryan Langerhans, which broke the tie when it cleared the baggie in right center. Rincon can partially blame starter Boof Bonser, who walked Felipe Lopez to start the 6th, and reliever Carmen Cali who walked Dmitri Young and allowed a single to Austin Kearns to set the table for Logan's walk and RBI. Starter Mike Bacsik pitched well enough to win, but reliever Saul Rivera walks away with the W after 2 1/3 IP and just one hit allowed. Chad Cordero got the save with an effortless 9th. Fun fact: The Nats scored 2 runs in all 3 games against the Twins. |
