| The Indians eke out a win to prevent the sweep in the third and final game of a 3 game series in Boston. Despite outhitting the Indians by an 11-9 margin, the Sox couldn't push across any more runs after the Indians took the lead in the 7th on a Kelly Shoppach double. The teams were tied at 3 before that tiebreaker thanks to 3 run homers on both sides - Jhonny Peralta in the 2nd for the Tribe, and Manny Ramirez for the Sox in the 3rd. |

Jhonny Peralta hit a homerun and had 3 RBI at Fenway Park as the Cleveland
Indians beat the Boston Red Sox 4 to 3.
Cleveland went ahead for good in the 7th inning scoring a single run on 2
hits. Boston threatened in the 9th but Cleveland was able to put down the
rally.
Paul Byrd(3-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Byrd got help from Joe Borowski who was credited with his
7th save. Daisuke Matsuzaka(5-3) suffered the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 8
hits in 7 innings.
'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially
sweet' offered Eric Wedge. Now, we just have to make this the norm - not the
exception!'
