This one was ugly. The Dodgers pile on 10 runs and 13 hits off the Nationals. Derek Lowe goes the distance for LA, allowing just 5 hits and 1 run. The one Nationals run was the lone bright spot for the game, an exciting inside the park home run by Cristian Guzman. The Dodgers #3 and 4 hitters did most of the damage - Nomar was 3 for 5 with a double and 4 RBI, and Jeff Kent was 4 for 5 with 2 HR and 4 RBI.

Jeff Kent smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Derek Lowe delivered 9 solid
innings as the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers defeated the Washington Nationals by
the score of 10 to 1 at RFK STADIUM.

Kent enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He blasted a solo shot in the 4th
inning, lined a base-hit in the 5th inning, popped a two-run clout over the
fence (his 6th of the season) in the 7th inning and delivered a single
plating a run in the 8th inning. Los Angeles(NL) managed 13 hits in their
victory.

Lowe(3-5) allowed 1 run on the game. Mike Bacsik(0-1) absorbed the loss. By
surrending 4 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings his ERA jumped from 5.56 to 6.32.

Kent was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the ball
real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying off.
That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes along.'
