| The Red Sox take the rubber game from the Rangers by a 9-5 score. The Sox slugged away, even without David Ortiz, who had a day off. They had 5 doubles, a triple, and a homer. New leadoff hitter Dustin Pedroia proved that he belongs in that spot with a 4 for 5 day with 2 doubles, while Coco Crisp singled and walked twice from the 2nd spot in the order. Combine that with Youk's 3 RBI in the 3 hole and Manny's homer from the cleanup position, and it's easy to pile up the runs. It got closer late when JC Romero and Brendan Donnelly tried to give it away, but the Sox big guns (Oki and Paps) take the 8th and 9th to nail down the win. Julian Tavarez doesn't get out of the 6th, but pitched well enough to earn the win. |
