| Daisuke Matsuzaka gets into double digits in strikeouts in a win over the Blue Jays. A 7th inning Frank Thomas homer is the only blemish on Dice-K's day, as he scatters 5 other hits over his 8 innings of work. Kyle Snyder walked 2 in the 9th but escaped without being scored upon. The Red Sox offense was led by Eric Hinske, who went 3 for 4 with a 2 run homer in a rare start at 1st, giving Kevin Youkilis a day off. |

WEB GEMS- Top 8th: Aaron Hill robbed J.D. Drew of a base hit.
Daisuke Matsuzaka struck out 10 batters and Eric Hinske connected with a 'big
fly' and had 2 RBI as the Boston Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays by a
score of 6 to 1.
Matsuzaka(4-1) put on a good performance. He surrendered only 6 hits and 1
walk in 8 innings lowering his ERA from 4.12 to 3.61. Boston totaled 8 hits
on the night.
Tomo Ohka(1-5) was the losing pitcher. He was stingy with the baserunners,
allowing just 3 hits and no walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Matsuzaka was asked about his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little
odd when you rack up these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a
running tally in the stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just
strange - but it's nice to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'
