No, that's not a typo. Normally, you might lament a game in which your team leaves 11 men on base. Not really a problem in this one since they could have left another 20 on base and still won. (Yes, I realize you can't leave more than 27 on base in a game.)

I'm mostly in shock at how downright ugly this game was for the Brewers. I mean, the Nats got 19 hits and walked 18 times. In fact, 18 walks in a game would break the NL record and tie the all-time major league record. In addition, Derrick Turnbow's 7 walks issued in the 9th inning would tie an NL record. Turnbow seemed to be left out there to die with his team already down by 16 runs, as no move was made to the bullpen when he walked the bases loaded and then walked home 4 runners. Unfortunately for Turnbow, the capper was yet to come - Ryan Church hit a 2-out homer for a grand slam to make it 24-2. For Church, it was no big deal - he had already hit a grand slam in the 7th inning. Church finished the game with 10 RBI, which is more RBI than he had in the entire season so far(8)!

No other Nationals cleared the fences, but there were impressive offensive performances up and down the lineup. Ryan Zimmerman went 4 for 7, Nook Logan went 3 for 7, and the first 2 hitters in the lineup (Felipe Lopez and Cristian Guzman) both had 2 hits and 3 RBI.

Chris Capuano, who was a 17 game winner in 2005, was the loser for the Brewers and set the tone with 5 hits, 7 walks, and 7 runs allowed in 2 2/3 innings. Matt Chico was the winner for the Nats and now is the 2nd 6 game winner in the major leagues, joining Josh Beckett.

Ryan Church smacked 2 homeruns as the Washington Nationals clobbered the
outmatched Milwaukee Brewers, 24 to 2.

Church was really in 'the zone'. He launched a rocket-shot out of the park
for a Grand Slam homerun in the 7th inning and launched a rocket-shot out of
the park for a Grand Slam homerun (his 4th of the season) in the 9th inning.
Washington bats were hot in the 6th inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 7
hits and the 9th inning plating 8 runs. Offensively, Washington was a
juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

The victory went to Matt Chico(6-0) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs. Chris
Capuano(1-2) was the loser. He struggled with his control issuing 7 walks in
2 and 2/3 innings.

The winning ways continue for Washington. They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days. With the loss Milwaukee now has a record of 20-12.
