| The Braves earn a split on the day as they take game 2 of a doubleheader with the Red Sox. This one was all John Smoltz, as he goes 8 2/3 and allows just one run. The Red Sox use Devern Hansack for the fill-in start, and he allows 4 hits and 6 walks in 4 1/3. The 2-run homer was Hansack's nemesis today - he allowed one to Scott Thorman in the 4th, then another to Brian McCann in the 5th before being pulled. The Braves and Red Sox have some modern rivalry to go along with the historical rivarly of once playing in the same city; the Braves beat the Red Sox in my 2004 SOM World Series. |
