| The Sox complete the doubleheader sweep of the Tigers by taking the nightcap, 7-3. The Tigers simply gave up too many baserunners, issuing 10 walks and committing 3 errors in addition to the 11 Boston hits. The Sox pitchers were much more efficient, allowing 7 hits but no walks and 10 strikeouts. Curt Schilling gets his 5th win on the year with 7 strong innings. Kevin Youkilis had 3 hits and reached base 5 times while filling in at the 3 hole for David Ortiz, who was given a day off. Youk also showed some power with a 2-run 1st inning homer. Coco Crisp also reached base 5 times - 3 walks, a double and a single. Game 1 hero Eric Hinske got the start on both ends of the doubleheader, but went 0 for 5 in game 2. |
