The Nats bullpen proves to be a further adventure, but the offense holds up its end of the bargain in an 11-9 win over the division leading Mets. The Nats struck in the early innings off Mets starter Oliver Perez, getting to him for 9 runs in 4 1/3 innings. Dmitri Young provided much of the offense with a 3-run homer in the 4th and a 2-run triple in the 5th. The Mets would pull within 2 runs thanks to a 4 run 7th off Jesus Colome and Micah Bowie, but the Nats would get 2 back in the bottom of the 7th on an Austin Kearns homer and would hold on for the 11-9 win.

Dmitri Young lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 5 RBI at RFK STADIUM
where the Washington Nationals beat the New York (NL) Mets 11 to 9.

The Washington fans enjoyed the offense provided by Young. He clubbed a
three-run home run (his 2nd of the season) in the 4th inning and tripled
scoring two baserunners in the 5th inning. New York (NL) threatened in the
9th but their rally came up short.

The victory went to Matt Chico(4-0) who went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs. Jon
Rauch got the save, his 1st. Oliver Perez(1-2) took the loss. He was
knocked around by Washington, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3
innings.

The Washington ballclub's record now stands at 13-10. With the loss New York
(NL) now has a record of 13-8.
